Implementation

Japanese style.
The client asked for a design.
It'll be beautiful.

Asian culture is taking off. To make sure of this, you can look through the music charts and the list of Oscar winners of recent years. And it's even better to read how we did it. brandbook for Japanese sweets store.

Popularizers of Eastern countries live not only in Asia, but also in the European part of Russia. We received an order from one of these educators. We were asked to create a website that would immerse the user in the atmosphere of Asian countries - with its depth, nobility and serenity. Samurai designers collected their hair in a bundle, armed themselves with stylus katanas, and went to the garden to contemplate cherry blossoms.

The customer wanted to design a website in the Japanese style of wabi-sabi. This worldview calls for seeking beauty in imperfection and simplicity. We absorbed this philosophy and decided to reflect in the design the ideas of minimalism, smoothness and naturalness.

We chose the colors. The basis was taken pastel tones: ivory shade, pale pink and light gray. They broadcast peace and tranquility. You look at the palette and it's like you're slowing down. I want to breathe deeper. And take your time.

Blocks isolated. We suggested five:

  • principal;

  • photo gallery;

  • blogs;

  • biographies of famous people;

  • About the project.

The client approved four of them. Instead of a section with facts about historical personalities, the Podcasts block appeared. There you can find audio recordings related to Eastern culture: music, exercises in Japanese, discussion of turning points in the past of Asian countries.

They wrote the lyrics. Our tongue was like a kite flying into the clouds. Copywriters thoroughly immersed in the topic - it was genuinely interesting. Here are some items to parse:

  • The difference between samurai and ninjas

  • myths about the construction of the Great Wall of China;

  • characters of Korean mythology;

  • The importance of the image of a geisha in Japanese art;

  • Confucius' quotes aren't from memes.

They added animation. Like all elements of the site, it is concise. On the start screen there are two squares: a symbol of order and integrity. They gradually float parts of the image from the main page. And according to the photo itself, where three monks stand near the Buddhist temple, a white vertical stripe passes and returns to its place - an image of cyclicity.

Result

The customer even when filling out the brief indicated what impression the site should make. According to the client, the user needs to feel admiration for the transience of life. We thought about that phrase for a long time. Confucius once said, “Life is simple, but we make it difficult.” Inspired by the words of a thinker, we created a simple design — and that’s where the value lies. The customer was very pleased.
